Abstract

From the Middle Triassic (?Illyrian – Fassanian) Buchenstein Limestones of Recoaro (Vicentinian Alps, Northern Italy) and the Upper Triassic (Cordevolian) Reifling Limestones of Großreifling (Steiermark, Austria) 191 radiolarian species (suborder SPUMELLARIA) are described.

1 family, 9 genera, 29 species and 1 subspecies are new.

The systematical classification of all known and new taxa is actualized.

The stratigraphical range and the abundance of the described taxa is summarized and leads to a first biostratigraphical evaluation for the ?Illyrian, Fassanian – Cordevolian. Even without considering the suborder NASSELLARIA the Middle Triassic faunas can be distinguished from Upper Triassic faunas on the level of families.
